The Burbs' Week 4 'Something About Together'

  1. Together there is unlimited potential and possibilities.
Gen. 11:4-6
And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.

This is a man centered/focused vision/purpose - let us make a name for ourselves: very common in our day
- God recognizes unity
- they all said the same thing - they had a common focus
- they worked together - for a common purpose
- nothing shall be restrained from them

What about a people who come together to make His name famous - when we gather around the Person of Christ, His purposes, His cause, and serve.

Matt. 18:19-20 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

Acts 4:23-24, 29-31
And being let go, they went to their own company and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them…..
Now, Lord look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Psalm 133:1-3
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.

It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing - Life forevermore.
