The Burbs' Week 3 - Fear & Courage.

One of the biggest enemies we face is that of fear. God has countered fear by making courage available to us.

Fear has the ability to effect all of our relationships on earth.
- keeps us from trusting
- hinders intimacy
- can cause us to isolate ourselves
  • paints an inaccurate perceived reality: no one likes me, everyone is talking about me, etc…
- keeps us from giving
- hinders us from demonstrating care
- causes us to pause in praying for one another

Fear desires to control our lives

How do we fight fear?
With The word
By The spirit
Walking in obedience
Being connected

What's the word say?

2 Tim. 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We must push through fear. Walk on.

Courage is ours for the having. Courage is not the absence of fear but rather it is the ability to move forward with wisdom, strength and perseverance in spite of fear.

One of the greatest stories in the scriptures of vision, failure, patience, perseverance, overcoming fear and courage is found in Joshua 1.
