The 3rd of July - 'the day before freedom' - Brian Leifeste

The 3rd of July.

Question: Are we free to do what we want? Are we free to do what we ought?

True Freedom has ________________________.

John 8:31-32 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide/continue in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Within the boundaries of Truth we find ___________________.

Prov. 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.

1. Question: What are we ___________________ from?

One thing common to all of us is our NEED.

2. What’s __________________ 3rd of July look like?

It’s the day before the 4th - it’s the day before our freedom, our independence.

Rom. 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What Is Sin?

Sin, as defined in the Bible, means “__________________________________.” The mark is the standard of perfection established by God and evidenced by Jesus.

3. Freedom is a __________________________.

John 8:36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Mark 5:1-21  We find a man who is a picture of sin, a picture of what sin will ultimately do in our lives.

“Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay.”
