Faith Works - 'Faith is Tested.' - Brian Leifeste

Faith is tested. 

Question: How do we respond to testing?

James 1:1-4
1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings. 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

2. Count it all ________________. When I keep my joy - I keep my strength. What does this say? keep looking up, keep leaning in, keep reaching out. 

3. When you fall into various _________________________. Trials & Test come.

Various. various colors, shapes, sorts, manifold - many sided

4. _________ this, that the trying (testing) of your faith works patience. (endurance)
In the midst of the trial, in the midst of the test, & in the midst of the temptation, God is good and supplying what you need, giving the grace that is necessary to continue. 

The early church called patience the queen of all _______________.  They believed that if they possessed this one virtue, they could _____________________________ that ever came against them. 

This Greek word for patience is ‘hupomeno’ - an attitude that never gives up! It holds out, holds on, outlasts and perseveres. 

5. What __________________ when I ‘hupomeno’? 
James 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
